Dovbush
Carpathians, Ukraine, early 18th century. The brutal rule of the Polish nobility forces the Hutsuls to flee into the mountains. Two brothers, Oleksa and Ivan Dovbush, become outlaws — opryshoks — and embark on a quest for revenge after the murder of their parents. But the brothers soon find themselves on opposing paths: one driven by a thirst for wealth, the other by a desire for justice.
Oleksa leads a Hutsul rebellion, while the nobility will stop at nothing to destroy him. Yet Dovbush continually outwits his enemies, and the legend of the Carpathian hero begins to spread — a legend that will inspire generations of people fighting for the freedom of their homeland.
A story of strength and love, betrayal and injustice, and of a man who lived, fought, and cheated death.
